"After sifting through the dragon’s hoard and casting Identify many times, the Clockwork companions went to leave the cave only to discover that their rope was missing and the ramp up was wet and slick.
Tik grabbed Tymlor and cast Dimension Door, placing them at the top of the slope where they saw two kobolds carrying torches. Startled, the kobolds tossed their torches on the ramp and fled. Tymlor cast Sleep, knocking one unconscious.
The slope lit up in flames and the kobold oil ignited and the cave began to fill with smoke. The companions moved away from the slope until the flames died down, grateful that they did not get caught climbing up the slope.
They made their way down from the mountain and were a few hundred feet away when they saw a robed figure climbing up the mountain. They decided to continue back to Ank’Harel.
After hauling their loot for nine hours, ACHU & Tik were exhausted and Tymlor cast Tiny Hut an hour from the city.
In the morning, they entered Ank’Harel and headed to the Frog and Kebab for a morning meal.
Then they visited the Hand of Ord where Rodolpho thanked them and gave them their reward.
Tymlor visited the Cobalt Soul where he purchased scrolls and materials.
Afterward, he met up with the others at Mystic Pursuits where they all shopped for magical supplies.
Tymlor soon left to meet Maggie at the Golden Chip.
Meanwhile, the others remained at Mystic Pursuits, tempted by the proprietor’s offer to draw from the Deck of Many Things. ACHU drew from the Tavern and the Tree cards, Tik drew the Corpse card, and Sarielle drew the Warrior card.
Then they met up with Tymlor at the Golden Chip where they caught up with Ayo’s band for much of the day.
In the evening, they returned to the Hand of Ord to investigate stolen goods. They were directed to Anrast Brighthair’s alchemical storage facility where they arranged to stake out the place from within throughout the night.
Anrast said Necromantic components were being stolen and then wished the Clockwork Companions luck.
Tymlor cast Alarm by the door and Tiny Hut in a corner by a chest of residuum.
Tik noticed an unusual portion of the wall across from the entrance and used Dimension Door to transport to the other side with Sarielle, but they found nothing but an empty storage facility and returned.
They hoodeded the Continual Light lanterns and everyone but ACHU waited inside the Tiny Hut.
Tymlor studied his scrolls for a few hours.
ACHU heard noise coming from the other side of the wall and alerted his companions. Tik cast Summon Shadowspan and Tymlor cast Haste on Sarielle as two elves emerged through the wall.
One of the elves, a monk, flipped Tymlor onto a table, setting off the hostilities. In the end, Tik had fallen and had to be revived, but the thieves were defeated. Sarielle leaped across the room and slew the fleeing monk and Tik finished off the mage with an Eldritch Blast.
They contacted the Hand of Ord, who arrived soon after and removed the criminals, explaining that they were members of The Veil."
