July 3-4
In the morning, a dark-haired rider arrived from the east, Teyna, Lion of Brindol, in service to the Lord Jarmaath. She warned that while on patrol sweeping up old the Rhest Trail, they ran into a hobgoblin and ogre roadblock waylaying travelers.
Dameron shared a premonition from St. Aster where he saw monstrous draconic creatures rising from the swamp. They decided that they would take a boat up the river to deal with the roadblock before heading to Lordrhest to deal with the Wyrmlord Saarvith.
Gruffudd visited Avarthel the Elfborne druid. After visiting the smith to purchase barding, Balthasar joined Camiwse and they visited Sertieren Amber, the wizard, who was with Duc Huillane d’Averc. Dameron spent the time at St. Aster's temple, helping Father Derny pack the temple's valuables.
A storm was brewing in the west as the town was bustling with activity, preparing to evacuate in the morning, when a wyvern and chimera attacked and were dispatched by the Daring Friends and Ol’ Sergeant Hersk.
In the morning, the Daring Friends said their goodbyes as the townsfolk headed east and they took the town’s boat north up the river.
While Aelfryd agreed to stick with Father Derny, Corr (an inexperienced teamster) and Dyll (a seasoned cook) insisted on following Dameron.
After rowing for a couple of hours, they arrived at the meeting spot near Jaervellios’ tree home and tried to convince the elf to join them. Jaervellios was reluctant to leave his home. After casting Speak With Plants on Jaervellios’ tree, Gruffudd handed the ranger an acorn. With that, Jaervellios agreed to join them.
Dyll was not pleased at the sight of the elf joining us, his family having been abducted by them.
As they headed upstream toward the Wode, Balthasar instructed them to fill their ears with wax and shield their eyes.
After traveling upstream through the Wode for a few more hours, Balthasar alerted his companions that the water was bubbling ahead. They quickly sheltered under tarps as they passed the bubbling water. Meanwhile, Gruffudd turned into a bird and flew overhead where he had dreadful delusions.
After the tense encounter, the rest of the day and night was uneventful.
