As the Clockwork Companions entered Cael Morrow, Tymlor cast Water Breathing as a precaution.
They soon met Professor Insight who provided them with leather gloves and offered them the key if they could retrieve any tablets from deeper within Cael Morrow with the writings of an ancient hero who tried to save Cael Morrow from destruction during the Calamity. She also requested that they retrieve Galeokaerda, a member of the Allegiance and her shield guardian.
Tymlor sent a Message to Prof Insight: "Please exercise all caution. When we last engaged the Consortium we recovered a note from Master Dendarron to Master Khelkur stating that they have a spy in the Drowned City searching for a key to the rift." She only nodded her acknowledgment in response.
At the base camp, they also met Scribble, a kenku, and Xot, a goliath. Among Xot’s collection, they found a ring and a potion, but he kept them.
In an underwater tavern, they encountered an aquatic elf named Olara. Tik purchased three bottles of ancient wine from her.
In an underwater library, they found three ghosts. ACHU’s kind words set them free.
In another section of the library, they met Galeokaerdaand her shield guardian. She said she was looking for a tablet. When ACHU asked her about the Ruidium rash he noticed on her, she attacked.
Tymlor trapped the shield guardian in a Resilient Sphere and told Galeokaerda to surrender but she refused, shooting a blast of energy at Tymlor, which he deflected with his Shield. Tik blasted Galeokaerda with Eldritch Blasts and headed toward the exit. While summoning their Echo nearby, Sarielle engaged and slashed Galeokaerda with their sword as the sorcerer tried to flee. Galeokaerda tried again to blast Tymlor, but he continued to deflect with his Shield. Tik summoned a Shadowspawn that attacked Galeokaerda while he exited the room with Liri. Sarielle knocked Galeokaerda unconscious with their blade.
Tymlor took the magic amulet he had seen from Galeokaerda and used it to command the shield guardian. He also found fifty gold coins, which he handed to Sarielle.
Tik returned and sent his Shadowspawn into the underwater room where Tymlor had seen the magic tablet but was surrounded and stunned by a swarm of angry fish. ACHU followed the Shadowspawn into the underwater chamber and noticed that the fish were corrupted by Ruidium. Tymlor dismissed his Resilient Sphere and commanded the shield guardian to retrieve the tablet. ACHU cast Word of Radiance on the angry fish as they destroyed the Shadowspawn and swarmed ACHU. Tik entered the underwater chamber to hit the fish with an Eldritch Blast before returning to the dry room. Tymlor entered the underwater chamber and retrieved the tablet with his Mage Hand while commanding the shield guardian to retrieve ACHU. The shield guardian grabbed ACHU and dragged him to the door until ACHU passed through the barrier of his own volition after casting Inflict Wounds on the angry fish.
Sarielle grabbed Galeokaerda and they all headed back toward the base camp. Tymlor noted that there was magic coming from another nearby underwater room.
As they were passing the underwater tavern, the barrier keeping the water out disappeared and they were all crushed as the weight of the water collapsed upon them.
Moments later, a huge corrupted hammerhead shark swam over. Tik cast Greater Invisibility and disappeared. ACHU rubbed his Medal of the Conch and swam forward. Tymlor cast Longstrider on Sarielle and himself and commanded the shield guardian to defend them. Swimming around a nearby tower, the shark tried to bite Tymlor but was deflected by his Shield. Sarielle swam next to Tymlor and summoned their Echo nearby. As the Echo swung wide at the shark, Tymlor sensed the corruption advancing on Sarielle and he used his Chronal Shift to rewind time, resulting in the Echo striking true. Still invisible, Tik hit the shark with a charged Eldritch Blast. ACHU hit the shark with his flail.
Tymlor pulled out the magic tablet and cracked it.
Tymlor stepped through the Teleportation Circle, instructing his companions to follow him. The shark bit into Tik, who became unconscious and visible. The Shield Guardian disappeared into the Teleportation Circle. Tossing Galeokaerda into the Teleportation Circle, Sarielle summoned their Echo, swam next to Tik, and slashed the shark viciously. ACHU channeled his divine healing to revive Tik and cast Healing Word on Sarielle. After being bitten by the shark again, Tik Misty Escaped away from the shark and fell unconscious again. As Sarielle continued to slash into the shark, it bit back before going limp.
Tik and ACHU tried to examine the shark’s body and concluded that it was dead. As ACHU was dragging Tik away through the water, the shark twitched and bit Tik. Sarielle slashed into the shark again until it went limp again. Tik blasted the shark with Eldritch Blast. ACHU cast Cure Wounds on Sarielle. Tik went unconscious again as the shark bit into him. Sarielle knocked the shark out again and dragged Tik into the underwater tower. ACHU revived Tik with Healing Water and slammed the shark with his radiant censer.
The shark never recovered, allowing them to make their way back to the base camp.
Meanwhile, Tymlor found himself on the roof of the First Eclipse. After ensuring that Galeokaerda was bound and gagged with a sack over her head, he revived her with Cure Wounds and instructed the Shield Guardian to carry her as they headed back to the entrance to Cael Morrow.
ACHU contacted Tymlor via their Sending Stone and they agreed to meet at the base camp. On the way, they ran into Rodolpho, who escorted them to the entrance.
It took Tymlor a couple of hours to make it back down to the base camp, even with the Shield Guardian carrying Galeokaerda and him.
When Tymlor arrived, he found Professor Insight who said his companions were resting upstairs. He handed Galeokaerda over to Professor Insight and warned her about her betrayal as well as the collapsed underwater barrier.
Tymlor greeted his companions, intently confirming that Sariele’s condition hadn’t deteriorated, and explained that he had intervened earlier.
Professor Insight returned and took Gaelokaerda away, despite Tik’s attempt to convince her to let them interrogate her.
Rested, they headed to Mystic Pursuits to find any items that might assist them underwater. Tymlor requested a Mirror Image scroll but they didn’t purchase anything.
Tik found a merchant to purchase the Netherdeep wine for 800 gold coins per bottle.
They returned to the Temple of the Mentor to rest for the night.
Before going to sleep, Sarielle visited Tymlor for a serious conversation.
