July 1
After decorating the front of Vraath Keep with the spiked heads of Koth’s minions, Dameron cast Sending to Captain Soranna and soon received a response.
Jaervellios then led the Daring Friends straight for Skull Gorge.
After traveling for almost five hours, Jaervellios said they were close and Gruffudd summoned an eagle familiar to scout the Gorge. Spanning the gorge was a long stone bridge—at least one hundred feet long and twenty feet wide—connected to a pair of towers at each end. Hobgoblin sentries could be seen in each of the towers, a hellhound guarded each side of the bridge, and a large green dragon was perched on a far tower.
Gruffudd cast Pass Without Trace and, stealthily, they approached the nearest towers. Dameron cast Aid and then Bless.
Balthasar drank his Potion of Fly and attacked the nearest hellhound. Dameron and Camwise took out the sentry atop the nearest tower. Gruffudd cast Thunderwave and knocked a sentry off the other tower to its death.
Balthasar chopped the hellhound down with his Frost Brand. Gruffud cast Call Lightning, covering the bridge in storm clouds. Camwise cast Slow on the hellhound, but the dragon resisted its effects. Dameron used his Wand of Lightning.
Camwise hit the dragon with Magic Missiles. Gruffudd brought the dragon down with Call Lightning.
Dameron leaped off the tower and Balthasar cast Feather Fall. Dameron killed three hobgoblins on the bridge with a Lightning Bolt. Camwise leaped off the tower away from the hellhound.
Soon, all the enemies were defeated and after searching their camp on the far side of the bridge, retrieving the dragon and harvesting its parts, the Daring Friends hung the dragon from the tower and left the hobgoblin heads on spikes as a warning to those that would soon come. Then they destroyed the bridge, blasting the weak supports Camwise detected near the southern towers.
