The Daring Friends convinced Jaervellios to lead them to the forest giants.
After traveling quickly through the woods for a few hours, they reached a ruined giant-sized fortress atop a large hill. Smoke rose up from a fire pit where a dire boar roasted on a giant spit. Warklegnaw the giant sat there muttering to himself, his skin marked by nasty red blotches.
As they watched, two owlbears attacked, almost killing Balthasar’s warhorse. As the Daring Friends were finishing the two monstrosities off, the giant approached and smashed the last of them with a tree.
Warklegnaw was cautious of “the children of Amery” but they appealed to him, offering him the owlbears as food and the giant-sized spiked gauntlet they had recovered from Vraath Keep.
Warklegnaw invited them to his camp and they talked and ate. Dameron recognized the red blotches as the Red Ache and Gruffudd used his staff to heal the sores.
They warned Warklegnaw of the goblinoid horde descending from Cinder Hill and he vowed to hinder their way.
Weary, the Daring Friends convinced Jaervellios to lead them toward his abode where they could rest comfortably.
On the way, Jaervellios grew concerned and admitted that the woods appeared foreign to him. Then they came across a familiar cave, the Bhargest cave.
Entering, they soon engaged with the same Bhargest, bigger than before. It was furious at Dameron’s mention of Takhisis, and Dameron was knocked unconscious by the fiend multiple times and was eventually burning in the Bhargest’s pit when his companions finally put the fiend down, burning it in its own flames.
The Daring Friends made their way back to Jaervellios’ tree home where they rested for the night.
