July 19-24
In the morning, Dameron awoke with a fright at the sight of Balthasar and waved it away as a bad dream. Soon after, the Daring Friends left Dauth along with the three survivors.
That evening, the Daring Friends reached Prosser and warned the villagers that they needed to flee to Brindol. Camwise convinced some mercenaries to warn the halflings of Hillwatch.
In the morning, Dameron said he had a Premonition of St Aster to seek an ally in the Golden Mane. Camwise recognized Seyora Goldenmien as the high priestess of St Aster. Soon, the Daring Friends left Prosser for Brindol.
They reached the walled city of Brindol that evening, noting the Birth of Legions monument celebrating the alliance of Drakkenwhyte and men. It was apparent that, while business was resuming, the militia had been gathered for the city’s defense.
At the gate, where their reputations preceded them, the visitors paid their toll and were led by the Lion of Brindol, Clayton, who told them Lord Jarmaath was awaiting their arrival, but upon Dameron’s insistence, led them directly to the Morninglory Temple.
At the temple, they met with priests who brought them to the Archon, Seyora Goldenmien. As Dameron was informing her of their plight from Drellin’s Ferry and battles with the forces of the Red Hand, Jaervellios began to burn and had to flee the temple.
Clayton explained that the Daring Friends were the heroes that Captain Soranna spoke and Lord Jarmaath awaited. Together they left the temple to meet with the City Council at Brindol Keep.
In a large hall, the City Council was gathered around a single, long table, including Speaker Wiston, Captain Soranna, Kellin Shadowtuft, Lord Kerden Jarmaath, Lady Verrasa Kaal, Captain Larren Ulvert, Seyora Goldenmien, Aaqastal the Unnumbered, Teyna the Lion of Brindol, and Sellyria of the Wode.
Dameron rejoiced at the sight of Speaker Wiston and Captain Soranna. Lord Jarmaath greeted Camwise warmly and spoke well of Balthasar, Dameron, Gruffudd, and Jaervellios.
Camwise presented evidence of the dangers approaching Brindol culminating in a Mirror Image displaying a montage of dramatic memories of the Red Hand.
Camwise offered to return the 6,000 gold coins they had recovered for the Shining Axes. However, when he explained that their deeds paid the debt, the Council insisted they keep the gold.
Lord Jarmaath suggested sending troops out to confront the Red Hand while Captain Ulvert wanted them to fortify the city from the walls. The Daring Friends convinced them to man the walls.
They discussed how they could bolster the city’s defenses in the event that the walls were breached.
Lord Jarmaath wanted the clerics to remain safe in the temple, while Seyora Goldenmien insisted that they remain with the soldiers where they could do the most good. It was apparent that Lord Jarmaath, and possibly Dameron, were prioritizing the safety of the high priestess, but the majority of the Council and the friends agreed to have the clerics assist the soldiers, so that decision was made.
Lord Jarmaath explained that Aaqastal the Unnumbered had prepared a telepathic bond between himself and up to three other people, including Lord Jarmaath, one of the Daring Friends, and presumably one of the other council members, who was yet to be decided. Lord Jarmaath suggested that the fourth should be Lady Seyora to ensure priests were allocated properly throughout the battle. Lady Kaal suggested it should be her since her troops and supplies would be used in the battle. Captain Ulvert thought it should be him since he would be commanding the city’s forces. The Daring Friends convinced them to extend the bond with Sellyria of the Wode so that they could coordinate her forces in the sky.
As the meeting drew to a close, Lord Jarmaath offered to put up the Daring Friends in his keep, while Lady Kaal offered them her more luxurious manor.
Camwise accepted Lady Keel offer. Balthasar, along with Gruffudd and Jaervellios, stayed at the keep and asked Lord Jarmaath to tell him about the giants to the north and his great sword. Dameron stayed Morninglory Temple.
