Red Hand of Doom - Session 27: Atrocity at Coedwaye

July 13-14

Camwise woke from a terrifying vision, moaning:
“Flee back to your city. Prepare for Takhisis’ vengeance.”

Dameron shared a Premonition:
“Indecision is a poor bedfellow. Nurkleknack arrives when Aurelios waxes.” (The night of the 15th).

Later that morning, Dameron bid farewell to Bleddyn Rocksplitter and the Daring Friends made haste from the Dwarven Holds toward the Ghostlord’s lair.

The next morning, Dameron shared a Premonition:
“Discretion is the better part of valor.”

In the afternoon, the Daring Friends reached the village of Coedwaye. Camwise cast Clairvoyance to scry on the town before entering. He saw Red Hand forces penning in the villagers.

Gruffudd cast Pass Without Trace as they approached the village for a closer look.

As they watched, they heard wings beating in the sky. Looking up they saw a massive dragon swoop down, the rider, clearly none other than Wyrmlord Kharn, dismounted and gave a speech to the Red Hand holding the villagers hostage before the dragon burned them all alive. The Daring Friends watched the massacre in horror, some of them feeling reluctantly obliged to heed the words of Dameron’s Premonition.

After the Atrocity at Coedwaye, they skulked away and, as night approached, found a place to camp for the night. In the distance, they saw the broken wode in the fading light. The massive trees looked more like giant columns of stone.

Gruffudd shared lore about the Ghostlord.

Dameron shared that knowledge of Orcus, the great enemy of Harrow Schaftord, the guide, also known as The Winged Scythe. Within the depths of Kaxtros red moon up above, resting upon his throne of bone, Orcus seeks to uproot the dead from their resting places with his mighty crook made of bone. Banishing an aspect of Orcus is how Harrow Schaftord was harrowed. Children are warned that if they don't say their prayers and do as they’re told, Orcus will make a loved one return from death, crawl into their bed, and eat them.

Camwise added that Orcus is one of the more notable demon Lords and may be sought by necromancers as a patron because he has many secrets to tell.
