Attempted Raid on the Triton Village

It was a cool, clear night when I met with Thridax, Anekdotos, Koal, Pericles, Hellen, and six hoplites just outside Neolantika. The hoplites each brought an extra horse for the six of us. Together, we followed the coast south for many hours until dawn when we found we had just reached the northernmost hills north of the Triton village.

I found humanoid footprints headed south. As we were looking for shelter, a storm broke out. We found a rocky overhang and made camp.

Hellen woke us up with a warning of tritons approaching. Thridax cast Silent Image to hide our shelter. Six Tritons approached and were turning away when Pericles cast Silence on them.

I charged out of our shelter and had only put one down when Pericles cast Fireball and Thridax put the last two to Sleep with a spell. We dragged them back into our shelter, where Hellen used Detect Thoughts and Pericles cast Zone of Truth.

They said they were looking for an old triton and identified themselves as Shorestalkers. When I threatened one, he revealed that the temple was guarded by sea monsters that became docile when fed urchins. When we were done questioning them, Koal killed them both with Eldritch Blast.

While we were resting, Thridax began speaking with some goats that were passing by. Anekdotos attacked the goats and they charged our camp. Thridax cast Suggestion and one giant goat walked away. The rest of the goats were slaughtered.

We salvaged a bundle of goat hide.

That night, we decided to scout out the village. When we reached the edge of the hills, we could see lights in the village. Pericles cast Protection from Poison on me. As we snuck up to the village, we saw two towers and Koal saw tritons walking outside of the wall.

An alarm went off and we withdrew, getting separated in the dark. Hellen, Anakdotos, and I got separated from the rest of the group until I heard Thridax Message me and we were united with Thridax and Pericles. Koal was missing. Unable to find the hoplites, we made our way to the coast.

When the sun rose, we found that we had headed too far east and decided to double back to the hoplites. By late morning, we found Koal with the hoplites. Together, we mounted the horses and heard back toward Neolantika.

On the way back, Thridax questioned a goat and it was as fruitful as our attempted raid.
